Jasper Stuyven se lleva la primera clásica de la temporada 2020 por delante de su compatriota Yves Lampaert y de Kragh Andersen.
Una primera parte de la carrera marcada por el viento y la lluvia que endurecieron la carrera. Wout Van Aert se mostró muy ofensivo en la primera mitad lanzando varios ataques y seleccionando al pelotón, aunque no pudo meterse en el corte bueno.
Lo mismo le pasó a Greg Van Avermaet que se mostró muy atacante aunque tampovo logró meterse en el corte en el que se decidiría la carrera.
El corte final lo formaron seis corredores: Yves Lampaert y Tim Declerq del Deceuninck, Matteo Trentin del CCC, Mike Teunissen del Jumbo Visma, Kragh Andersen del Sunweb y Jasper Stuyven del Trek Segafredo.

Cuando llegaron al Kapelmuur, tanto Yves Lampaert como Jasper Stuyven imprimieron un fuerte ritmo hasta quedarse ellos solos. El único capaz de enlazar con ellos después de la mítica subida fue Kragh Anderser pero un ataque en los últimos kilómetros por parte de Lampaert hizo que se descolgase.
Se jugaron el sprint Stuyven y Lampaert, sobre el papel era más rápido Stuyven y no hubo sorpresa, llevándose así la primera clásica de la temporada.
